I. Where do I find Blue Car Rental in Iceland?
The offices of Blue Car Rental are located at Keflavík International Airport and downtown Reykjavík City.
Our headquarters at the Keflavík International are located right next to the airport, at Blikavellir 3. The office is within walking distance from the airport and takes only about 3 minutes to walk. See how to get there here.

II. When is your office open?
Our office at Keflavík International Airport and the Keflavík Airport shuttle services are operated 24/7 from 1st of May until 31st of October and from 4:00 am until 1:00 am from 1st of November until 30th of April. The same applies to the
The Reykjavík City office is open from 8:00 until 20:00 and the Reykjavík City Shuttle Service is operated from 8:00 until 20:00.

III. Which documents are necessary to rent a car?
The driver's original and valid driving license (same applies to additional drivers).
A valid credit card.
IV. Are all foreign driver's license accepted?
We at Blue Car Rental accept all foreign driver´s license as long as they are valid and can be read by our staff members (in english or at least with latin characters).
If not make sure to bring an International Driver´s License/Translation.
V. How old do I need to be to be able to rent a car?
Renter must be 20 years of age to rent a 2WD car or a medium sized 4WD/AWD.
To rent our larger 4WD, SUV´s or Luxury models the renter must be 23 years of age.
VI. How can I pay for my rental?
Credit card payment is the best option to pay for your rental vehicle when you book online. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Union Pay, Discovery, Diners Club and JCB are valid.
The renter may also be able to book with a debit card, if you have the online payment option availble on it.
The renter, or someone travelling with the renter, also needs to submit a credit card on arrival when he picks up the vehicle. We require the renters to submit credit card but if you only have debit card we accept debit cards with a 16 digit number on the front.

VII. What is included in the rental price?
Included in the car rental price rate;
· Unlimited mileage
· 24% VAT tax
· Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
· Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW)
· Gravel Protection (GP)
· Theft Protection (TP).
VIII. Is there a minimum rental period?
Minimum rental period is 48 hours.
IX. Can the booking be changed/modified after I have received a confirmation?
If you need to change/modify or cancel your booking after you have received a confirmation you can simply send an e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will help you arrange it.
X. Can the booking be changed/modified after I have picked up the car?
If you need to change/modify the booking after you have received the car you need to contact us via e-mail or call us in +354 773-7070.
Extensions are based on the availability each time. If the car is available the extra charge is subject to the duration of the extension.
Early returnings are always allowed. However no refunds can be given for unused, or partly used, car hire vouchers unless the amendments or cancellations have been made prior to the pick-up date.

XII. I booked a Keflavík Airport Shuttle service pick-up, how do I collect my car?
When entering the arrival hall at Keflavik International Airport, please turn to the Blue Car Rental employee that has your name on a white-board. He will take you to the car and finish all paperwork with you at our office. See here.
XIII. I booked a Keflavík City pick up, how do I collect my car?
Our customers who choose to pick up the vehicle at their accommodation in Keflavik City can write the name of the Guesthouse/Hotel in the booking process and the car will be delivered exactly at that place. Very convenient for those whose flight arrives late or want to spend some time in the Keflavik area.
XIV. I booked a Reykjavík City Office pick-up, how do I collect my car?
Our Reykjavik City Office is located at Klappastígur 5, 101 downtown Reykjavik. It is very centrally located and easy to reach on foot for those staying in downtown Reykjavik. Picking up from our downtown office is free of charge and the office is open from 08:00-20:00.
XV. I booked a Reykjavík City Shuttle Service pick-up, how do I collect my car?
We offer shuttle service for those staying in the city but who are not within walking distance of our office. We will then come by your accomodation and pick you up at the requested time. We will take you to our office where you will get your car.
Please make sure to provide your address in the booking process and to be ready for us when we arrive as we might have other customers to pick up as well. The service is offered between 08:00-20:00 for the reasonable price of ISK 3.000.
XVI. Where and how will I return the car?
Blue Car Rental offers drop off service in Keflavík and Reykjavík City, Keflavík International Airport as well as directly at our offices at Blikavellir 3, 235 Keflavík Airport and Klapparstígur 5, 101 Reykjavík City.
If you intend to use our Keflavík City or Reykjavík City Shuttle Service you bring the car to our office (either at Keflavík Airport Office or Reykjavík City depending on where your accomodation is) where we will meet you and shuttle you back to your accomodation.
When returning the car at Keflavik Airport, please take it to our office close to the Keflavik International Airport and we will then drop you off directly to the departure hall.

XVII. Is it possible to return the car outside of opening hours?
We only allow the rental cars to be returned on our opening hours.
Our drop-off service at our Keflavík Airport Office is open 24/7 from 1st of May until 31st of October and from 4:00 am until 1:00 am from 1st of November until 30th of April.
Other drop off services are open from 8:00 to 20:00.
XVIII. If I return the car early do I get a refund?
Unfortunately no refunds can be given for unused, or partly used, car hire vouchers unless the amendments or cancellations have been made prior to the pick-up date.
In case of a cancellation, this is our policy;
· Cancel more than one week prior to the rental and get a full refund (100%)
· Cancel in the last week before your rental and pay 10% of the rental amount.
· In case of a no-show or last day cancellation we charge 100% of the rental amount
XIX. Can I be sure that the selected vehicle is available?
If the vehicle you selected during the reservation is unavailable during pick up we will supply you with a similar model. We always guarantee the same, or higher, category. We however do not guarentee the brand and model.
XX. Do you offer Roof Boxes and what is the size?
If you need that extra bit of space for your camping gear and luggage it´s ideal to rent a roof box. The roof boxes we offer is a Thule Pacific 200. They are 410 liters with dimension of 175x85x45 and can carry 50 kg. Rates are per day 2.500 ISK
XXI. How many luggages do i fit in my rental car?
It really depends on the car you are renting. The golden rule is that if you are renting the smallest option you can fit 2-3 medium sized luggages, medium sized options carry 3-4 luggages and the larger options carry 4-5 luggages. This of course also depends on the size and shape of the luggages.
Keep in mind that when you rent a 7 seated vehicle and you have 7 passangers the luggage space is a lot lesser so you only fit around 2-3 medium sized luggages depending on the size of the rental car.
Our 9 seated options however fit 8 luggages – no matter how many passangers!

XXII. Do you offer studded tires and snow chains?
All our rental cars are equipped with studded winter tires from 1st of November until 15th. of April each year. Studded tires are not allowed on a different period according to Icelandic laws and regulation.
Snow chains are not allowed in Iceland on normal cars as they damage the paved roads and are not needed.
XXIII. Do the cars have heated seats?
All our rental cars are equipped with heated seats for the cold Icelandic winters.
XXIV. Do the cars have USB / AUX / Bluetooth?

XXV. Do you offer emergency breakdown assistance and how can I reach you?
Yes, we offer 24/7 emergency breakdown assistance which means you can call our emergency line every day, 24 hours a day. The number is +354 773-7070
Blue Car Rental has service partners all around the country if something breaks down or if something has to be replaced. If you have an accident or if the car breaks down we will of course replace the car with a new one as soon as possible.
Keep in mind that if an assitance is required because of a breakdown or damage that is the driver´s responsibility Blue Car Rental will charge the renter a service fee. This fee is of course not charged if the assistance can be traced to a breakdown or damage on Blue Car Rental´s responsibility.
