This hot spring in West Iceland is the highest flow hot spring in Europe. Experience bathing in a hot spring in Krauma, which utilises some of the water. Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls are nearby as well as Europe’s second-largest glacier Langjökull.

Dyrhólaey

Dyrhólaey

This small promontory is in South-Iceland next to Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach. This beautiful cliff, with a hole in it, is well worth the visit for stunning views and bird watching. Note it is closed from traffic in the spring during nesting season.

Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon

It is a must stopping by the famous glacier lagoon by Europe’s largest glacier Vatnajökull. You can take a boat ride, check out the nearby Fjallslón glacier lagoon and Diamond Beach while you are there.

Stuðlagil

In the East Fjords, you find this fantastic columnar basalt canyon where a once-powerful glacier river runs through. The river used to be much more powerful until the nearby dam Kárahnjúkavirkjun was built in the early 2000s.

Dettifoss waterfall in Iceland

You should not pass up Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss. It is awe-inspiring to see. Nearby Mývatn and Ásbyrgi are also worth a visit.

Látrabjarg

In the West Fjords, you find one of Europe’s largest bird cliffs. It is incredibly steep, so make sure not to stand too close to the edge. The cliff is a great place to see puffins! Nearby Rauðisandur beach is also one of Iceland’s most beautiful beaches.
