BEFORE I BOOK THE CAR
Minimum rental period is 24 hours.
We do not hold a deposit from our customers while they have a rental car. We need to see a valid credit card on arrival, we will only hold the imprint of the card as a guarantee. If the renter does not have a credit card we do accept 16 digit number debit card.
The driver´s original and valid driving license (same applies to additional drivers). Regarding foreign drivers license: We need the license with Latin Characters as we need to be able to understand the license. Information we need are: Issuing date, expiring date, Full name, driver´s license number
A valid credit card, if the renter does not have a credit card we do accept 16 digit number debit card.
Renter must be 20 years of age to rent a 2WD car or a medium sized 4WD/AWD.
To rent our larger 4WD, SUV´s or Luxury models the renter must be 23 years of age.
Credit card payment is the best option to pay for your rental vehicle when you book online. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Union Pay, Discovery, Diners Club and JCB are valid.
The renter may also be able to book with a debit card, if you have the online payment option available on it.
The renter, or someone travelling with the renter, also needs to submit a credit card on arrival when he picks up the vehicle. We require the renters to submit credit card but if you only have debit card we accept debit cards with a 16 digit number on the front.

Included in the car rental price rate;

We at Blue Car Rental accept all foreign driver´s license as long as they are valid and can be read by our staff members (in English or at least with Latin characters).
If not make sure to bring an International Driver´s License/Translation.
All our customers can reduce their self-risk/deductible to zero by opting for our Liability Waiver.
The Liability Waiver reduces the self-risk/deductible amount for any damage covered by our insurances to zero. This includes CDW/SCDW, GP, TP and SAAP and is subjected to the terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement. Excluded are any damages not covered by insurances as stated in Article 29 and 32 in the Rental Agreement and terms and conditions.
Keep in mind that this is not extra insurance but an option for our renters to waive their liability in case of any damages to the rental car during the rental time. This allows our renters to have a carefree experience with Blue Car Rental while enjoying our beautiful island.
EXTRAS AND EQUIPMENT
Want to share your experience on social media, stay updated on latest weather and road condition, or simply use your phone/Ipad to binge your favorite movies or tv shows. Having a 4G WiFi router can be incredibly convenient.
The portable WiFi router comes with unlimited data and can be used by multiple devices.
If you need that extra bit of space for your camping gear and luggage it´s ideal to rent a roof box. The roof boxes we offer is a Thule Pacific 200. They are 410 liters with a dimension of 175x85x45 and can carry 50 kg. Only available for 7 seated vehicles. Rates are per day 3.500 ISK
It really depends on the car you are renting. The golden rule is that if you are renting the smallest option you can fit 2-3 medium sized luggage, medium-sized options carry 3-4 luggage and the larger options carry 4-5 luggage. This of course also depends on the size and shape of the luggage.
Keep in mind that when you rent a 7 seated vehicle and you have 7 passengers the luggage space is a lot lesser, so you only fit around 2-3 medium sized luggage depending on the size of the rental car.
Our 9 seated options, however, fit 8 pieces of luggage – no matter how many passengers!

All our rental cars are equipped with studded winter tires from 1st of November until 15th. of April each year. Studded tires are not allowed on a different period according to Icelandic laws and regulation.
Snow chains are not allowed in Iceland on normal cars as they damage the paved roads and are not needed.
All our rental cars are equipped with heated seats for the cold Icelandic winters.
AFTER I BOOK/RECEIVE THE CAR
Keep in mind that toll fees, parking fees and entrance fees are charged electronically in certain areas, national parks and road tunnels in Iceland. Make sure to follow it closely and pay when required in order to prevent being fined and/or charged related cost due to not paying when required.
If the vehicle you selected during the reservation is unavailable during pick up we will supply you with a similar model. We always guarantee the same, or higher, category. We, however, do not guarantee the brand and model.
If you need to change/modify or cancel your booking after you have received a confirmation you can simply send an e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org, and we will help you arrange it.

Extensions are based on the availability each time. If the car is available, the extra charge is subject to the duration of the extension.
Early returning is always allowed. However, no refunds can be given for unused, or partly used, car hire vouchers unless the amendments or cancellations have been made prior to the pick-up date.

In case of a cancellation, this is our policy;
- Cancel more than one week prior to the rental and get a full refund (100%)
- Cancel in the last week before your rental and pay 10% of the rental amount.
- In case of a no-show or last day cancellation, we charge 100% of the rental amount
The offices of Blue Car Rental are located at Keflavík International Airport and downtown Reykjavík City.
Our headquarters at Keflavík International is located right next to the airport, at Blikavellir 3. The office is within walking distance from the airport and takes only about 3 minutes to walk. See how to get there here.
To reach us, feel free to use the shuttle service option from the airport. Once you clear customs and enter the arrivals hall you will see a sign for Car Rental Shuttle Service and our logo. This shuttle will take you to the Rental Car Area where Blue Car Rental will be your second stop on its route. Quite convenient and easy to find.
Our newly opened office in Reykjavík City, the capital of Iceland, is located at downtown Reykjavík, at Fiskislóð 22.
Our office at Keflavík International Airport and the Keflavík Airport shuttle services are operated 24/7.
The Reykjavík City office is open from 8:00 until 18:00 and the Reykjavík City Shuttle Service is operated from 8:00 until 17:00.

Blue Car Rental has service partners all around the country if something breaks down, or if something has to be replaced. If you have an accident or if the car breaks down we will, of course, replace the car with a new one as soon as possible.
Keep in mind that if assistance is required because of a breakdown or damage that is the driver´s responsibility Blue Car Rental will charge the renter a service fee. This fee is of course not charged if the assistance can be traced to a breakdown or damage on Blue Car Rental´s responsibility.

This shuttle will take you to the Rental Car Area where Blue Car Rental will be your second stop on its route. Quite convenient and easy to find. The office is within walking distance from the airport and takes only about 3 minutes to walk for those who want to take a quick walk.
Our customers who choose to pick up the vehicle from their accommodation in Keflavik City can write the name of the Guesthouse/Hotel in "Which address". We will then pick you up from that accomodation and bring you to our Keflavik Airport delivery office where we will deliver you the car. Very convenient for those whose flight arrives late or want to spend some time in the Keflavik area.
Our Reykjavik City office is located at Fiskislóð 22 in downtown Reykjavík. It is very centrally located and easy to reach on foot for those staying in downtown Reykjavik. Please find a map to our location here below.
Picking up from our downtown office is free of charge and the office is open from 08:00-18:00.
We offer shuttle service for those staying in the city but who are not within walking distance of our office. We will then come by your accommodation and pick you up at the requested time. We will take you to our office where you will get your car.
Please make sure to provide your address in the booking process and to be ready for us when we arrive as we might have other customers to pick up as well.
The service is offered between 10:00-16:00 for the reasonable price of ISK 3.000.
Blue Car Rental offers to drop off service in Keflavík and Reykjavík City, Keflavík International Airport as well as directly at our offices at Blikavellir 3, 235 Keflavík Airport and Fiskislóð 22, 101 Reykjavík City.
If you intend to use our Keflavík City or Reykjavík City Shuttle Service you bring the car to our office (either at Keflavík Airport Office or Reykjavík City depending on where your accommodation is) where we will meet you and shuttle you back to your accommodation.
When returning the car at Keflavik Airport, please take it to our office close to the Keflavik International Airport and we will then drop you off directly to the departure hall.
We only allow the rental cars to be returned on our opening hours.
Our drop-off service at our Keflavík Airport Office is open 24/7 all year round.
Other drop off services are open from 8:00 to 18:00.
