How To Pick Up Your Car Rental in Iceland
Blue Car Rental offers seamless and fast service with our Key-box pick up option. Allowing customers to avoid all waiting at the office and go directly to their rental car in Iceland.
Note that only customers with full coverage insurances from Blue Car Rental (Liability Waiver) can use key box pick up.
Here’s how you can skip the line with using Blue Car Rental’s Key-box pick up:
Step 1: Rental Car Online Check-in
The first step is finishing the online check-in process. The online check-in is available to all customers 7 days prior to the rental start date. Customers receive notification via e-mail when the check-in becomes available.
The online check-in process only takes a few minutes to complete. There customers can make final adjustments to their bookings as well as receiving vital information about renting a car in Iceland. Such as safety concerns and other valuable travel tips. As well agreeing to all Blue Car Rentals terms and conditions in the rental agreement.
In the final step customers with the liability waiver can then choose from a speedy pick up at the office or collecting the key to their rental car from a key-box at the office.
Step 2: Collect Rental Car with Key-box
Customers opting for a key-box pick up will receive an e-mail at least an hour before scheduled pick up time with the code for the key-box.
Key-boxes are located at Blue Car Rental offices, both at Kef Airport and Reykjavik City.
• At the Keflavik International Airport office the boxes are positioned at the far end from the main entrance.
• At the Reykjavik City office customers use a special entrance located behind the main office.
At both offices signs show the location of the key-boxes. Simply follow the guidelines or ask our staff for directions. Here’s how to use the key-box:
- Press the small screen
- Choose your preferred language
- Press "key pickup"
- Enter your code
- Grab your keys and follow the instructions on the wall
Step 3: Finding Your Rental Car
On the wall of the Key-box room is a map of our parking lot. There you will see sections marked with numbers. The key to the rental car has a tag and on it will be a number, indicating where the rental car is parked.
Customers can then see where their rental car is located and follow the instructions on the wall to find out where to exit. From there simply find the row according to the tag and get in your rental car in Iceland.
Step 4: Key-box Rental Car Return
Returning the rental car is even easier than collecting it. Bring the rental car back to the office at the time and place according to the rental agreement and leave the key at our office.
Once the key is returned the customer is free to go. A confirmation for the drop off is sent via e-mail once the car has been inspected by our staff.
Additional Key-box Information
• The Key-box pick is accessible 24/7 at our Kef airport office and from 06:00 – 21:00 at the Reykjavik city office.
• Note that only customers with full coverage insurances from Blue Car Rental (Liability Waiver) can use key box pick up.
• Customers using the key box pick up at Reykjavik City office will receive an e-mail with a code for the key-box room.
• After-hours key-box pick-up at our offices must be arranged at least one hour before office closing time.
